2014 Doctor of the Year is working at Centre of Health No. 8. Family doctor Ogulguzel Nurmuradova is the winner of the traditional contest organized by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan jointly with the National Trade Unions Centre. The contest for the best doctor of the year that is held annually on the eve of the Day of Healthcare and Medical Industry Workers, which is widely celebrated in our country each year on July 21, opened the programme of festive events. The final of the contest was organized at the Parahat Cultural and Entertainment Centre.
Ten winners of regional qualification tournaments as well as representatives of the State Sanitary-Epidemiological Service, the Turkmendermansenagat Production Association, and the State Medical University were qualified for the final.
The finalists competed in three nominations. During the first round, each finalist made a presentation regarding their work and the national healthcare system in general. In the second round, the finalists participated in the creative contest demonstrating the skills in popularization of the healthy lifestyle and preventive work.
The third round revealed the level of professional knowledge and skills among competitors. Each finalist received an envelope with description of a disease, including patient's complaints and results of medical examinations. Based on this information, the finalists were supposed to make a diagnosis, and determine the course of treatment. Within the framework of the third round, the contest participants also should tell about a particular medicinal plants growing on the territory of our country.
All participants successfully coped with the tasks. Young doctors demonstrated the high level of professionalism and it was difficult for the jury to choose the best one. Thus, an additional quiz revealed the winner - Family Doctor of Centre of Health No. 8 Ogulguzel Nurmuradova. The winner received the title of the 2014 Doctor of the Year and the grand prize on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan. Valuable presents were also awarded to other participants of the contest.
