The festivities on occasion of the Turkmen Melon Day took place at the Independence Park in the Turkmen capital. The ceremony of awarding best melon growers, who achieved significant results in their work, was arranged within the framework of the festivities. Melon growers from all regions of the country attended the festive event to demonstrate the results of their work. Piles of melons, water-melons, pumpkins of various sizes and forms were exhibited there.
The concert programme dedicated to the holiday included performances of Turkmen artists and dancing groups as well as popular singers. The exposition of Turkmen painters, who glorify the generosity of the Turkmen land in their works, adorned the festive event. The culmination of the holiday was the ceremony of awarding valuable gifts to best melon growers on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.
According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, Turkmen melon growers presented an Ahalteke stallion - Melekhan to the President of Turkmenistan as a symbol of their gratitude to the Turkmen leader. Conferences, art expositions, bright fairs, concerts, sports competitions, and ceremonies of awarding best melon growers were arranged in all cities and settlements in Turkmenistan on occasion of the Turkmen Melon Day.
All participants of the celebrations and guests were treated with juicy watermelons and sweet melons, melon jam, and dried melon.
