The central stadium of the Ashgabat multifunctional sports complex became the venue for the festive celebrations on occasion of the Day of Independence of Turkmenistan.
The cabinet ministers, deputies of the Mejlis, heads and officials of the diplomatic missions accredited to the country, Turkmen ambassadors to foreign countries, representatives of public organisations, Turkmen and foreign journalists, the elders, youth and numerous guests gathered together at the stadium to enjoy the fascinating show. The delegates of the XVII Conference of the Humanitarian Association of the World Turkmens and the meeting of the Elders’ Council as well as numerous foreign guests, who visited Turkmenistan during this wonderful period attended the festive celebrations.
The magnificent melody of the national anthem of Turkmenistan was performed. Hundreds of colourful balloons floated into the sky. Legendary Ahalteke horses, the beauty and pride of the Turkmen people appeared in the arena. Horse riders carried the State flags of Turkmenistan in their hands. The ‘heavenly horses’ are an invaluable property of the national and the world cultural heritage.
Children’s dance groups picked up the baton of the celebrations. Turkmen sportsmen, who turned the stadium arena into the Olympic Village and the arena for exhibition performances in dozens of sports within a few seconds, continued the show.
Then the theatrical literary and musical performance that linked a period of life of the prominent Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly Fragi with the modern epoch was presented. The festive show was concluded with the performance presented by artistic ensembles from all five regions of the country. Their compositions embodied the unique colour of each region and united into a national Turkmen dance – kushtdepdi.
