A regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on ensuring Turkmenistan's compliance with international obligations in the sphere of human rights and the international humanitarian law was held at the Turkmen National Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan. The meeting brought together the representatives of the Mejis, a number of ministries and departments and public organisations of the country.
The meeting agenda focused on the issues regarding the implementation of the 2014 Work plan. Within the last period, the members of the Intergovernmental Commission analyzed a number of legislative acts of Turkmenistan and drafted the proposals on amending them in compliance with the basic principles of the international regulations in the sphere of human rights. The meeting participants also considered the projects of national programmes, which are aimed at guaranteeing the human rights.
During the meeting, the members of the commission considered the progress of implementation of the General Programme of Turkmenistan on development of the juvenile justice and exchanged the views on the drafts of the relevant regulatory and legal acts. The information on the work done within the framework of National Programme on Early Child Development (ECD) and School Readiness for 2011-2015 was presented during the meeting.
