A new large scale facility which appeared on the eve of the 20th anniversary of independence expanded sports infrastructure in Dashoguz Velayat. The ceremony of opening the sports school designed for 365 young athletes took place in the administrative centre of Gurbansoltan Eje Etrap.
The school building was constructed by the Altyn tug private enterprise as consistent with the National Programme for improvement of the social and living conditions in villages, settlement towns in etraps and etrap centres for the period till 2010. It is one of the similar facilities put into operation in Dashoguz Velayat this year.
The sports schools have been built in Gubadag Etrap and Boldumsaz Etrap, the sports schools will open the doors for young athletes in Akdepe Etrap, S. Niyazov Etrap and Kunya Urgench town soon. In the near future the sports school will be put into operation in Ruhubelent, the youngest etrap in the region.
Young citizens of Gurbansoltan Eje Etrap can practice such sports as volleyball, basketball, tennis, handball, boxing, martial arts, judo and many others using sports kits and improve their health by doing physical exercises and fitness training in the gyms and premises of the new sports school supplied with state-of-the-art sports equipment. There is a football field with the running track in the adjacent territory. Sporting competitions can be held at various levels on the arenas of the new sports school. The school building houses the referees’ rooms, medical room and the stands.
The new sports school is not the only facility of its kind in the region. The sports school in Nurmuhammed Andalib Gengeslik is known far beyond the region by its powerlifters who have won the prizes of the international tournaments. The foundation stone of the sports school designed for 365 atheltes has been recently laid in Rejepguly Ataev Gengeslik.
