The century before last, when pace of life particularly rural was quite rapid as compared with the present, not all events marked with concrete dates. Therefore, in the passport of Yazjemal Gulmyradova in column “date of birth”, it was fixed only the year – 1892.
On the threshold of the International Spring Holiday, we together with the chairperson of Bairamali etrap committee of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan and chairperson of Bairamali branch of the National Red Crescent Society visited the long-lived person.
Prior to the meeting with Yazjemal dayza, we had an opportunity to talk with her relatives, who told us that grandmother doesn’t like to twiddle her thumb, and is ready to work all night long. She has a lot of ardors like weaving of “alaja”, and spinning of yarn with spindle. Sometimes she sews, but everything is done by hands with ordinary needle. She is very sociable, interests in everything. She doesn’t complain of a memory as well as writes verses.
We also were welcomed with verses to the glory of happy life, which is connected with the name of our national leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. And we, in turn, congratulated her on the upcoming spring holidays, presented flowers. And an unhurried conversation about life, work, love and hopes began.
Yazjemal dayza was born in Rahat village of Turkmengala etrap, and now, lives in Azat gengeshlik of Bairamali etrap. She was grown up in ordinary peasant family, where children were brought up by personal example in labor and life. She married fellow villager Korpe Atajanov, when she was 16 years old. Life was not easy. In those years, for example, the farmers brought the soil on their shoulders in sacks for levelling the sowing areas. But manual labor was a norm in no mechanized agriculture of those times, and the life was full of concerns about family welfare, where three children – son Eziz and daughters Garagyz and Enegyz were grown up.
War darkened the happiness. Her husband didn’t return from battle field. Years later, she married again. The chosen one was Yalak Gulmuradov, who worked as shepherd, pasturing a flock of camels of collective farm, consisting of 60 livestock. Yazjemal was engaged in housekeeping, sewing and helped her husband. Other children – Gozel, Nurmuhammed, Ayjemal and Jahan appeared in the family. About past years Yazjemal dayza says: “Whole my life – huge concerns and great happiness!”
Trying to enumerate in age order all her descendants, soon she lost count. She said that if we would let know beforehand about our visit then so many relatives would gather here. But, all of them couldn’t have room even in the yard. It is impossible to believe – 36 grandchildren, 100 great grandchildren and 38 great-great-grandchildren! In the near future, it is expected a regular birth of a child – already the fourth generation of her descendants. There are farmers, blacksmiths, sewers, teachers, military servants and representatives of other professions in their large family.
Yazjemal dayza has enough helpers – adults and young like second former high achiever great granddaughter Mahriban. No wonder that owing to such attention, benevolent atmosphere, she was able to reach such honorable age. At that, as Yazjemal dayza underlined, she was not ailing practically during her whole life and even today, she resorts to drugs quite seldom.
In the course of talk, a story about walk of grandmother on Health Path, where the nation leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov performs ascent, was a great surprise for us. Long-lived person mentioned about this, and her great-great-grandson, teacher of physical training of local school Kakysh Korpayev told about details.
Having watched a plot in the TV set, where the President of Turkmenistan performed a jog along Health Path, Yazjemal dayza, who was 122 years old, seriously said: I also would like to walk along this famous mountainous path, granting people cheerfulness and health. The family welcomed this idea with great enthusiasm and decided to organize for her a trip to Ashgabat, show the sights of the capital and its outskirts.
In summer of the last year, they left for a trip. They carefully prepared, having envisaged all essential things for person of such age. The trip lasted ten days. In Kopetdag ridges, Yazjemal dayza got an opportunity to see underground cave Kovata and persisted in walking down until the lake. So in no hurry and without particular assistance, she came upstairs. She also visited Archman and now, she thinks about recreation in this sanatorium during several days. New buildings of the capital produced greater impressions on her. At that, one of the brightest recollections for long-lived person and her relatives became the visit of the Health Path and ascent of it. Overcoming step by step with support of great grandsons, Yazjemal dayza stayed for a while, took a breath and persistenly, in spite of persuasions, went up the stairs.
The lovers of healthy life-style, who walked there on that day, turned their attention to petite figure of Yazjemal dayza, offered their help. In response, she thanked all of them and continued to walk until the highest peak wherefrom wonderful panorama of white-marbled Ashgabat is opened.
Standing on the top of mountain ridge, where the sky embraces the land with blue tent, she put the face to the air flows full of aroma of mountainous herbs, listened attentively to warble of birds and said: I am really lucky! I lived whole life in labor, dreamed about happiness for children. This is happiness – our beautiful land, peaceful sky, rich towns and kind people!
… Yazjemal dayza returned spry from trip and shared with her impressions. The trip didn’t tired her. As her relatives said, sometimes she can display self-dependence and by regular bus or passing car, visit her great-great-grandchildren, who live not far and Bairamali. In general, she has very active and rich life-style in spite of her age.
123 years old! I thought that in order to live so much, maybe, it is necessary special food ration and routine. The answer of this question was the following: “Think over, what a food is essential for human when he worked and tirelessly concerned whole days and nights.” In this regard, the truth was opened long ago: it is necessary to live not to eat but to eat in order to live. Our grandmother simply lived, worked, and never forgot to glad for children, family, life and sun in any misfortunes.
