A regular issue of the Miras Journal appeared in print. The fourth issue for 2010 of the popular science journal prepared for publication by the National Institute of Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan begins with the welcome statement of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to participants of the international conferences entitled the Bronze and Iron Age and the Material and Spiritual Heritage of the Turkmen People and Bahaveddin Hagyshbendi and Sufi Literature which were held in Ashgabat last year.

The reviews on the books The Living Legend and Good Name is Imperishable by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov that were first presented to the readers on the day of opening the new building of the Mary Velayat Library that took place with participation of the Turkmen leader are published in the section “Scientific and Cultural Chronicle”.

The article Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan – a Reliable Factor for Strengthening State Sovereignty dedicated to the 16th anniversary of recognition of the status of neutrality of our country by the United Nations General Assembly is presented in the section General Issues and Theoretical Aspects. It comments on the foreign policy strategy and innovative initiatives of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov that enhance Turkmenistan’s prestige in the world arena.

Professor of the University of Delhi R. Ahmad writes about the tangible and intangible culture of the country of Margush and political reconstruction of written evidence found during the excavations. His article based on the outstanding discoveries made by a prominent archaeologist Viktor Sarianidi in the old delta of the Murghab River is presented the section “New Discoveries and Developments”. The Indian scientist emphasizes that he seeks to expand basic views on the political system and ideology of the ancient people living in Margush.

The article Political Relations between the Azerbaijan State of Shaddadids and the Great Seljukids in the second half of the 11th Century by an Azerbaijan researcher B. Samedov is presented in this section. The article by Professor of the Tatar State Humanitarian Pedagogy University A. Burkhanov spotlights the specific outcomes and prospects for studying the historical and cultural monuments in Lebap Velayat where the author has conducted archeological excavations for many years.

The publication about the didactic work Gulzar of a 16th-century Turkmen scholar Patsh Hoja is presented in the section “Linkages of Cultures, Nations and Civilizations”. The author makes an analysis of the content, composition and literary specificity of this little-known written monument that was first published in Ashgabat in 2004.

An American specialist of the Uppsala University J. Keith Yale writes about the age-old Turkmen art of horse breeding, the national traditions for breeding riding horses of the Ahalteke breed and promotion of the equestrian sport in Turkmenistan in her article.

The article on the origins of citizens of Khorezm by an Uzbek historian Sh. Kamoliddin is presented in this section. Referring to Biruni’s works the author assumes that there is a trace of Persian-speaking migrants from Iran who assimilated with the local Turkic peoples in their ethnogeny as is proved by archeological, linguistic and toponymical data.

The fourth issue of the Miras Journal presents the overview of the events of social, scientific and cultural life of the country for October-December of 2011.
