The festivities to mark the National Flag Day are taking place throughout the country. This year Turkmenistan is celebrating this holiday with enthusiasm. The presidential election held in an atmosphere of openness and transparency last week that was inaugurated a new stage in development of independent neutral Turkmenistan and spotlighted the desire of the Turkmen people to move forward along the path of prosperity and cohesion under the leadership of newly elected President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov augmented the festive mood of these days. The election outcomes added solemnity and patriotic pathos to the National Flag Day celebrations.
The ceremonies of putting numerous facilities meeting international standards into operation are taking place in different regions of the country to mark the national holiday. The versatile programme of cultural events and festivities added bright colours to the national holiday that symbolizes the unity of the nation, civil concord, political stability and economic progress.
The thematic expositions entitled Let My Flag Proudly Fly in the Skies! are arranged at the museums in the Turkmen capital and the administrative centres of velayats to mark the forthcoming holiday. These expositions include the pieces of art, carpets and handicrafts that somehow reflect the pride of the Turkmen people in their Motherland, thier attitude towards the National Flag as the shrine and symbol of stability, peace, progress and prosperity.
The conferences were conducted at higher educational institutions across the country. The National Centre of Trade Unions held the conference entitled Fly in the Skies, Our Green Flag! that spotlighted the important role of democracy and the adherence of the Turkmen people to the democratic principles and foundations of statehood.
The ceremony of opening the Berezengi sanatorium after reconstruction is to take place this week. The efficient use of natural resources and development of health resorts for citizens of Turkmenistan is another evidence for the state concern for the people’s welfare.
The conference on the Historic Changes of the Epoch of Great Reforms and the Main Goals of Youth Patriotic Education will be held in the conference hall of Magtymguly Turkmen State University and the education professionals will take part in the conference entitled The Green Flag is Our Spiritual Wealth!
An art contest organized by the Central Council of Magtymguly Youth Organization at the Turkmenistan Cinema and Concert Centre will pick up the baton of the festive marathon. Best students of higher educational institutions from all over the country will demonstrate their knowledge, artistic abilities and sportsmanship.
The exhibition entitled Our Flag Flies Proudly in the World and the ceremony of awarding the winners of the contest announced by the Ministry of Culture and the Political Council of the Democratic Party among photo journalists and amateur photographers of our country will arouse keen interest among citizens and guests of Ashgabat. A photo exposition will be open at the Museum of Fine Arts.
The festive event entitled Turkmen Youth Highly Values the National Flag will be arranged at the Winter Sports Complex. The programme will include exhibition figure skating performances and ice hockey competitions.
The festivities will move to the regions of the country. A number of new facilities will be put into operation in Ruhabat Etrap. These include the industrial complex with the storage capacity of 100,000 tons of grain and the production capacity of up to 80,000 tons of flour and baked goods per year. This complex will ensure that hundreds of new jobs will be created in the region and the range of bakery products will be broadened. The similar complexes are to be put into operation in Serdar Etrap in Balkan Velayat and Gerogly Etrap in Dashoguz Velayat. Their production capacity is 50,000 tons of flour each. The new complexes are designed to store 50,000 tons of flour each. A new kindergarten designed for 160 children will be opened in the administrative centre of Yoloten Etrap.
The “Our Contribution to Social and Economic Development of Turkmenistan” patriotic movement organized by the National Centre of Trade Unions and the Central Council of the Women's Union will be summed on the eve of the National Flag Day. The ceremony will take place at the Turkmenistan Cinema and Concert Centre. The ceremony of awarding best workers and labour collectives for their profound contribution to modernizing the manufacturing processes at their enterprises and enhancing the economic strength and wellbeing of the beloved Motherland will be held.

A festive concert including musical and circus performances and will be performed at the State Circus building. Concerts and street festivities took place on the Ylham Alley for citizens and guests of Ashgabat.
