At Turkmen National Institute of Democracy and Human rights at the President of Turkmenistan, it was held a regular session of the Interdepartmental Commission on maintenance of fulfillment of international obligations of Turkmenistan in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law. The representatives of Parliament, several ministries and departments, social organizations of the country took part in it. Its agenda included the issues connected with summing up of work within the first half of the year, definition of long-term plans, etc.
As it was noted, within period under review, the Commission, which is permanently operating consultative interdepartmental body, realized a series of measures aimed at the further democratization and strengthening of legal bases of a Turkmen society. Being the full member of the United Nations Organization and having ratified the basic international conventions, including in the field of human rights, Turkmenistan undertakes practical steps on realization of provisions of these important documents. A vivid example of this fact is the successful realization of complex legal reform on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
In the course of the meeting, it was considered the draft of the National Action Plan in the field of human rights as well as methodology and ways of development of programs, envisaging concrete steps on perfection of the legislation and law enforcement practice, national system of human rights protection.
Besides, the agenda of the meeting included the issues of practical realization of “National Program of Turkmenistan on early development of the child and his preparation for school within 2011-2015” and “General Program of Turkmenistan on development of justice system for minors” confirmed by special Resolutions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. As it was underlined, adoption of these important documents prepared taking into account the priorities of state policy, being pursued in this field by relevant ministries and departments of the country jointly with the international organizations, including with United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund - UNICEF, is the bright confirmation of adherence of the Turkmen state to the undertaken international obligations.
In respect of activity of the Commission for the forthcoming period, the special attention was paid to the taking of effective measures with a view of fulfilment of the tasks set the nation leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov before this structure. In this context, it was underlined the necessity of further strengthening of the established fruitful contacts with the international organizations, first of all, the United Nations and its structural divisions.
