With a view of monitoring of condition of children and women, and measurement of the key indices, allowing to trace the progress on a way of achievement of Millennium Goals of the United Nations and other international obligations, according to the decision of the government of Turkmenistan with support of UNICEF and United Nations Population Fund, a survey, which will cover more than thousands of households, will be conducted from September 27, 2015 to January 15, 2016 in provinces and Ashkhabad.
Specialists of the State Committee for Statistics will hold interview among members of a family, where there are girls and women at the age from 15 up to 49 years old as well as children under five years old. The formulation of questions is directed to get an objective information in the field of mother and the child health protection, development of children and their education. It will include the data about education of children and women, health protection during pregnancy and childbirth, early development of children and their immunization, supply of households with potable water, information on well-being of a family as well as issues concerning encouragements in a family of equality of men and women, expansion of rights and possibilities of women. Names, addresses and other personal information remains anonymous.
Such inspections are held since 1995 over the countries once in five years. The method of cluster survey was developed and passed by UNICEF at the international level. Monitoring is important in the context of attainment by the countries of the purposes and tasks of Millennium Declaration, World Declaration and Action Plan on issues of children and other international documents. The analysis of major indicators will allow estimating progress and improving national strategies in this area.
