A working meeting, involving representatives of the older generation from the regions and capital city of the country, was held in preparation for a special meeting of the Elders Council of Turkmenistan at the Assembly Palace Maslahat Kosgi. The agenda focused on preparatory works to the nationwide forum dedicated to the 20th anniversary of permanent neutrality of the motherland.


The participants discussed the organizational issues of the forthcoming forum, noting that neutrality of Turkmenistan, serving as an effective positive factor of regional and international politics, was essential to the further development of our country and a prosperous and happy life of the present and future generations of the Turkmen people.


The Elders Council is one of the main institutions of Turkmen society with the history of thousands of years. Since ancient times, our people have been showing profound respect to grey-haired aksakals, trusting the rich life experience of their most esteemed countrymen and listening to their wise advice. This age-old democratic tradition, revived in the new historical epoch, has taken a worthy place in the life of the Turkmen state and society. Each meeting of the Elders Council that has gained a new status turns into the truly nationwide forum that adopts decisions on issues of national importance.
