The presentation of the new book “Neutral Turkmenistan” by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov dedicated to the 20th anniversary of neutrality of our country took place in the conference hall of the Institute of International Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. High-ranking officials, heads and representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, ministries and departments, political and public organisations of the country, scientific agencies and higher educational institutions as well as mass media and students attended the ceremony.
The new book by the President of Turkmenistan represents the chronicle of the Turkmen neutrality, thinking about the positive core of which the Turkmen leader underlines the crucial importance of this unprecedented international and legal status in achieving impressive breakthroughs in economy, social sphere, spiritual and cultural life of the Turkmen society and at the international arena.
The book presents the extracts from the key historical documents on the status of neutrality, which were adopted at the international and national level. Among them are the Resolution of the UN General Assembly “On the neutral status of Turkmenistan”, the Constitution of Turkmenistan, legislative acts and other documents.
The new book also presents the statements about the place and role of the neutral status of the Turkmen state in today’s geopolitics by the heads of the leading world states, heads of largest international organisations, including UN Secretary General – Kofi Annan and Ban Ki-moon.
The book finishes with the texts of the second Resolution of the UN Genral Assembly “Permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan” adopted in June, 2015 and the speech of the President of Turkmenistan at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly.
