Citizens of Turkmenistan widely celebrated New Year’s Eve. This year, the New Year’s Eve celebrations have taken place on the square in front of the Alem cultural and entertainment centre, where the main New Year’s Tree in all its beauty, crowned with the eight-pointed star and the glowing numbers 2016, welcomed numerous guests.
Many Ashgabat citizens and guests to our city gathered together on the square to participate in New Year’s Eve celebrations. Music and songs were heard, and an elevated atmosphere of large-scale festive events permeated with an expectation of a miracle reigned there on that day. Modern means of communication made it possible to involve citizens from all the five regions of the country into the celebrations in Ashgabat through a space bridge.
...A bright show was presented in front of the Alem cultural and entertainment centre. The festive programme included the performances of popular soloists, who sang their dedications to New Year’s Eve, the works based on folk themes and motifs, lyrical and buoyant songs and dances.
The space bridge allowed the regions of our country to join in New Year’s Eve celebrations in Ashgabat. The bright festive shows and New Year’s Eve celebrations in the velayats, involving young singers and artistic groups, that had attracted numerous spectators took place on the main squares in the administrative centres of the regions on that day. The spectators included the heads of regional administration, the elders and young people, grey-haired mothers, rural citizens and children.
Representing Ashgabat citizens, who had flooded the square in front of the Alem cultural and entertainment centre, the elders and schoolchildren wished every success in their work and fulfilment of their wishes to compatriots throughout the country. Poems and songs were performed; renowned dance ensembles, popular singers and artistic groups presented performances.
The musical marathon continued with a big concert, performed on the stage in front of the Alem centre, where joyous melodies and rhythms of dances, capturing everyone present on the square of the fairy-tale town, were heard.
The culmination of New Year’s Eve celebrations was the New Year’s address of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to citizens of Turkmenistan shown on the huge monitors. All those present on the square in front of the Alem cultural and entertainment centre as well as millions citizens of Turkmenistan, watching TV at that moment, were listening to the national leader with great attention and bated breath. The feeling of immense pride for their independent country, the present and future of the Fatherland were uniting all citizens of Turkmenistan at those exciting and solemn moments.
Heartily congratulating compatriots on the coming year and wishing that the next year would bring success, prosperity and happiness to the Turkmen people, the Turkmen leader focused on the outstanding achievements that the year 2015 – the Year of Neutrality and Peace had brought us.
“In the following year of the epoch of might and happiness each of us should work even harder and diligently to strengthen the position of our beloved Fatherland Turkmenistan among industrialized and developed countries of the world,” President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.
