On 4-5 October 2021, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will pay the official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan. The matter on organization of this visit was discussed at the meeting of the government of country held in the videoconference format.
At the meeting the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov reported on preparation for the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, planned for 4–5 October.
He stated that the development of the friendly, brotherly dialogue with the states - nearest neighbors is one of the key directions of foreign policy of the country. Turkmenistan and Republic of Uzbekistan have established diplomatic relations in February, 1993. The countries-neighbors actively cooperate in the political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian areas. To this day, the legal and contractual framework of the bilateral partnership consists of 221 documents. In a period from 2007 to 2021, 23 mutual state, official and working visits at top level were paid.
The head of MFA of Turkmenistan also emphasized the productive character of the Turkmen-Uzbek economic relations, where is the positive dynamics of increase in the bilateral foreign trade turnover. Here, an important part is assigned to the activity of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission. Until the present, 16 meetings of the Commission were held.
At the meeting it was also noted that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan fruitfully cooperate in the cultural and humanitarian sectors. Various events are regularly organized in this venue, including mutual Days of Culture. On these days, the Turkmen Cinema Days are held in Uzbekistan.
Besides, proceeding from the arrangements negotiated at the top level, a special attention is paid to the activization of contacts between the regions of two states.
Currently the foreign-policy establishments of both countries implement the joint complex work on preparation of the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, within the framework of which a succession of crucial events, the Turkmen-Uzbek Economic Forum are planned.
Having listened to the report, the head of the state stressed the traditionally friendly, good neighborly character of the Turkmen-Uzbek relations, based on the historically formed cultural and spiritual commonality, uniting our fraternal peoples.
The leader of the nation stated the continued impressive diversified opportunities for the increasing of the mutually beneficial partnership, which is filled with new content from year to year. In this context, there are also the goods prospects for the strengthening of fruitful relations at the regional level of both countries. The working visits held in September of the delegations of khakimliks of Dashoguz and Lebap velayats to Khorezm and Bukhara regions of Uzbekistan, correspondingly, are designed to promote it.
Along with that, said the leader of nation, our countries constructively cooperate in the all-round format, on channels of the credible regional and international organization, where the mutual assistance is afforded.
Having satisfyingly stated the mutual focus of the parties on the further development of fruitful interstate relations over the whole their range, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov entrusted the Deputy Prime Minister, the head of MFA to provide a high organizational level of preparation to the forthcoming official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan and events scheduled within its framework.
