Turkmenistan received equipment for PCR diagnostics

As part of the project “Response to COVID-19 in Turkmenistan”, funded by the World Bank, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, with the support of UNDP, received laboratory equipment for PCR diagnostics. In particular, 10 Qiagen Rotor Gene Q Plex-6 devices, 10 thermoblocks, 6 microcentrifuges, 6 centrifuges and 6 autoclaves were delivered. The equipment has already been installed in the Turkmen capital, and in the future it is planned to equip the regions of the country with them.

The COVID-19 response project in Turkmenistan aims to strengthen the national testing and treatment capacity, improve the skills of medical workers, and purchase reagents, medicines and medical equipment. The project will also support the implementation of digital solutions for infectious disease control.

The PCR method has been included in almost all studies that are related to living organisms. The main reason for the popularity of the PCR method is its high specificity and extraordinary sensitivity: the analysis capabilities allow the study of individual molecules.
