The Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan hosted the two-day seminar within the framework of the EU-funded project on cooperation in media development in Turkmenistan implemented by the BBC World Service Trust with support of the European Union.

The forum brought together the members of the working group of the Central Election Commission for mass media, representatives of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH), the State Committee for TV and Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography of Turkmenistan and other national mass media.

Specialists from Europian and CIS countries, including Mrs. Claire Doole and Mrs. Zoya Kazanzhi were invited to the seminar as international experts.

The reports dedicated to the international experience of media work in covering various election campaigns in different countries all around the world were presented within the framework of the first day of the seminar. The seminar participants learned more about the practice of informational cooperation of the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan and mass media, as well as the practice of drafting press-releases and organizing briefings.
