Turkmenistan was represented at the 33rd session of the Interstate Council for Hydrometeorology of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The meeting was held in the format of a videoconference with the participation of representatives of the national hydrometeorological services of the CIS countries, the World Meteorological Organization and the CIS Executive Committee.

Issues related to the impact of weather conditions on human life occupy one of the important places among global priorities, since the preservation and improvement of the environment are essential conditions for the sustainable development of society and the future of our civilization. In this context, as noted by the speakers, an interstate hydrometeorological network is successfully functioning in the territories of the CIS member countries, and a common space for the exchange of hydrometeorological information has been preserved.

The key topics that were discussed during the meeting were the activation of interaction between the hydrometeorological services of the Commonwealth member states, especially with the World Meteorological Organization, their implementation of the Strategy for the development of hydrometeorological activities of the CIS countries.

Particular emphasis was placed on the meteorological support of civil aviation flights in the CIS space, the organization and conduct of hydrobiological observations on water bodies. In addition, the members of the Council considered the issues of building up human resources, participation in the activities of the Group of Earth Observations.
