The study of foreign languages at all levels of national education has gained wide popularity, due to the high requirements and realities of our time. Active integration of the country into the world community, large-scale international interaction, including through information and communication technologies, requires language knowledge, training of diversified specialists who speak foreign languages, highly qualified translators, linguists, and linguists.
Proceeding from this, all the necessary conditions and wide opportunities have been created in the country for the education, development of creative abilities, scientific potential of the younger generation, youth.
Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi is one of the leading institutions of higher education in the country, where specialists in the field of foreign languages are being trained. The university conducts intensive and effective work with a focus on achieving the level of perfect language proficiency. The emphasis is on learning at least three languages - mother tongue, professional language and a second foreign language.
Teaching is carried out within the framework of the "Concept for improving the teaching of foreign languages in Turkmenistan", from the date of adoption of which in December this year marks 5 years. The concept includes three stages and is currently at the stage of the third.
At its first stage, in 2018, the world experience in the field of methodological support was actively mastered, state standards, training programs and curricula were improved at all levels of the educational process. At the second stage (2019-2020), the system of training and advanced training of teachers, the educational and methodological base in this area as a whole, were improved. The goal of the third, final stage (2021-2024) is the need to create a continuous, consistent and interconnected system of teaching foreign languages in Turkmenistan.
In this regard, our institute continues the relevant work aimed at the successful implementation of a comprehensive program. Teaching foreign languages is based on the rules contained in the concept and requirements for the quality of teaching and learning languages in accordance with world standards. According to the document, the sequence of actions is observed, the organization of the educational process, the content of the training is drawn up.
Monitoring helps to achieve high results and quality in the study and teaching of foreign languages, which allows you to clearly and regularly assess the level of knowledge of both students and teachers. This kind of exam is held in every semester of the academic year. Based on its results, further guidelines in the work are corrected and lined up. We improve the educational process in order to achieve a deep understanding and complete assimilation by students of educational topics and lesson materials, their ability to communicate freely in the languages of the world. Among the most important tasks is also the intensive building up of foreign speech and writing skills, the study of the culture and history of the country of the language being studied. Teachers, in turn, must be proficient in modern methods of teaching foreign languages and effectively use educational technologies in the educational process.
Experienced teachers, professors of the institute support all the undertakings and aspirations of students who want to learn languages additionally, trying to increase their interest and knowledge. They encourage young people to participate in linguistic competitions, competitions, to write scientific papers related to the teaching and learning of languages.
Teachers are also indispensable mentors for students who enthusiastically share rich experiences with young people, create opportunities for learning and help them purposefully use new knowledge in their work. For example, when translating foreign literature, creating electronic dictionaries, competent university teachers and mentors draw students' attention to these processes.
The professional development of future specialists is facilitated by scientific and practical conferences regularly held in foreign languages, dedicated to various methods of teaching languages, the use of scientific and advanced technologies, world experience in this field, as well as thematic online seminars with foreign colleagues.
In addition, on the basis of our institute there is a short-term language center "DIL", which has all the necessary conditions for learning foreign languages and is open to everyone - students, schoolchildren and other residents of our country.
It is worth noting the contribution of our teachers to the professional training of teachers of foreign languages in secondary schools in the country. Thus, at the Faculty of Advanced Studies of the Institute, participants in bilateral meetings discuss various topics and issues, methods and methods aimed at improving the teaching of foreign languages to schoolchildren. Outside of meetings with the same goal, teachers and educators maintain close collaboration.
