The Mejlis of Turkmenistan held a meeting in the Turkmen capital. The meeting agenda focused on the issues of improvement of the regulatory and legal basis of the physical culture and sports. The heads and representatives of the National Parliament of Turkmenistan, the National Olympic Committee, the sports committees of velayats and Ashgabat, the national sports centers, a number of sectoral ministries and departments as well as public organisations attended the meeting.

It was noted that the traditional and new for our country sports had been offered with a powerful incentive for development due to the particular concern of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, an ardent supporter and advocate of a healthy lifestyle. The meeting participants analyzed the most efficient ways for solution of the important tasks set by the Turkmen leader during the recent sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan with the aim to ensure the legislative support to the training of the world class sportsmen and promotion of the sports and Olympic movement in our country.

The meeting participants underlined that due to the well-coordinated work of the specialists of the relevant ministries, departments and institutions on implementation of the complex programme, a qualitatively new modern system of training high-class sportsmen and coaches would be created in the country.
