A practical seminar on the development of horticulture was held in the Ruhubelent etrap and the S. Turkmenbashi etrap of the Dashoguz velayat.

The event was organized within the framework of the project “Conservation and sustainable management of land resources and ecosystems of high natural value in the Aral Sea basin for multiple benefits”, which is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan in conjunction with the United Nations Development Program.

It was attended by local farmers, employees of khyakimliks, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen Agricultural Institute in Dashoguz and representatives of public organizations in the region.

The participants got acquainted with innovative methods of gardening through the sustainable use of water and land resources, in particular, carrying out spring pruning of fruit trees. The experts also presented measures to protect garden plots from pests and diseases in the face of climate change.

As one of the seminar participants noted, the practical training provided answers to many questions related to gardening on their plots.

The joint project of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and UNDP “Conservation and sustainable management of land resources and ecosystems of high natural value in the Aral Sea Basin for multiple benefits” was launched in 2022 and aims at long-term solutions for sustainable development and conservation of valuable ecosystems Turkmen Aral Sea.
