The 2nd round of the International Competition «The Most Beautiful Ahal-Teke Horse of the Year» was held at the Ashgabat Equestrian Complex, which attracted the attention of numerous lovers and breeders of Ahal-Teke horses.
The competition was attended by purebred elite stallions aged 3 to 10 years. Twenty horses were presented to the jury, having successfully passed the first stage of selection from among several dozen declared contestants.
The panel of judges, consisting of well-known horse breeders, seyises, cultural figures, artists and sculptors of the country, had to evaluate the dynamic qualities of the horses, the gracefulness and harmony of their movement. A special advantage among rivals was the ability to carry out various commands.
In addition, the «outfits» of the Ahal-Teke horses were also evaluated. More precisely, horse equipment, harnesses used for riding, made in the national style, with traditional decorations created especially for the Ahal-Teke by the best jewelers and craftsmen of our country.
Ten handsome horses were selected for the final. And the name of the winner of the international beauty contest among the Ahal-Teke horses will be announced on the eve of the National holiday of the Turkmen horse, which is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of April.
The main goal of the review is to further increase the world fame of the «heavenly horses», which have become an invaluable asset to the nation and human civilization, as well as to stimulate the work of horse breeders who have dedicated their lives to breeding and raising Ahal-Teke horses. These tasks are also served by the International Association of Ahal-Teke Horse Breeding, created on the initiative of the Hero-Arkadag, whose meetings are held annually in the capital of Turkmenistan.
