A festive event in honour to the most respected citizens of the country - war veterans, war widows and heroes on the homefront was held in the assembly hall of secondary school 27 named after Berdymuhamed Annaev in Yzgant settlement in Geoktepe Etrap of Ahal Velayat.
The festivity began with the ceremony of laying flowers to the monument of Berdimuhamed Annaev, a corporal of 748 rifle regiment of II Ukrainian front, the Turkmen leader’s grandfather.
Those speaking during the ceremony, including teacher of secondary school 11 in Geoktepe Etrap, a student of Berdymuhamed Annaev Garyagdy Berdiev, representatives of public organisations, teachers and poets, spoke about the heroic way of Berdymuhamed Annaev who was a wise teacher, brave soldier and patriot of his Motherland that was a wonderful school of education, patriotism and eternal example of the selfless service to the Motherland. It was noted that today, the war veterans and war widows in our country have been given with particular concern and respect.
On behalf of the President valuable gifts and wonderful flowers were presented to war veterans, war widows and heroes on the homefront.
An improvised ‘front half’ was organized on the square in front of the school. The war veterans met with each other, paid tribute to the memory of their fellow-soldiers who died for freedom of the native land and peace on the planet, and shared their memories about the war, strong men’s friendship and faithful love with youth.
The songs and melodies of wartime, simple attributes of military life - field kitchen, young soldiers dressed in military uniform, touching smiles of the heroes of war and homefront hoary with age, as well as a sweet-smelling sea of spring flowers created the atmosphere of sincere warmth and solemnity.
