A two-day scientific-practical seminar entitled “Venomous snakes and insects of Turkmenistan: rendering of first aid for victims bitten by them” was held in the conference hall of the National Institute of Desert, Flora and Fauna of the Ministry of Nature Protection.
The seminar assembled the employees of nature conversation sphere – Nature protection managements of the provinces and Society of fishers and hunters of the country, Turkmen Nature Conservation Society as well as representatives of the Ministry of Health and Medical industry. On the first day, it was organized the theoretical trainings and on the second day-practical training in the field conditions.
Specialists for reptiles and insects – herpetologists and entomologists of the National Institute of Desert, Flora and Fauna presented the information about all insects and reptiles dangerous for human being and inhabiting on the territory of Turkmenistan, told about behavioral peculiarities and signs of dangerous and harmless specimen of the world of insects and reptiles. All participants of the seminar received certificates on elementary training course for rendering first aid in venomous reptiles and insects bites.
In future, such trainings are planned to be held with the educators of the children’s health centers in out-of-town recreation zones and places, where geologists carry out researches, oil and gas miners and road builders work, shepherds pasture cattle. In support of such talks, the whole lecturing material has been compiled in the small booklet and written rules of behavior in two languages. It is planned to provide the seminar participants with them.
