Turkmenistan along with the world community widely celebrated the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
It should be noted that numerous conferences, contests, sport and health-improving events and educational actions dedicated to the struggle against drug took place throughout the country.
The burning of narcotic drugs is one of the major events taking place in the country to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. This action organized by the Government of Turmenitan , the State Coordination Commission to Combat Drug Trafficking under the Cabinet of Minister of Turkmenistan and the State Service on Drugs of Turkmenistan became another evidence for the determination of the Turkmen state and society to counteract one of the most dangerous challenges to all mankind.
The action participants representing the leading international organisations, including the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNDOC), the OSCE, the heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices accredited to Turkmenistan, representatives of public organisations and journalists, watched over 635 kilograms of narcotic drugs being burnt.
