A new commercial gas inflow was received in the first exploration well completed by the Turkmennebit State Concern in the Kemer field in the territory of Esenguly Etrap in Balkan Velayat. The target well depth is 4,300 metres and the daily flow rate is 250,000 cubic metres, according to preliminary figures.
It should be noted that shaftsmen have explored only the first production horizon. Moreover, the results of the well survey conducted by specialists of the Nebitgazylmytaslama Institute show that there are three more perspective strata of hydrocarbons.
Thus, another evidence for the tremendous energy potential of the south-western region of the country where a number of large deposits have been discovered was received. These include Korpeje, Keymir, Southern Kamyshlyja, Akpatlavuk, Shatut, Nebitlije, Altyguyi which serve as the raw materials base for the transnational Turkmenistan-Iran gas pipeline (Korpeje-Kurt-Kuyi). The Korpedje-Balkanabat oil pipeline supplying fuel to the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries starts there.
Drilling operations will be continued in the Kemer field. The subdivisions of the Turkmennebit State Concern will complete the second exploration well there to study the Pliocene complex of geological formations.
Drilling deep and ultradeep wells is an important aspect of the oil and gas industry development programme for the period till 2030. Advanced technologies and state-of-the-art equipment used by the fuel and energy enterprises facilitate fulfilling the assigned tasks in this sphere.
In general, development of new oil and gas deposits will allow increasing hydrocarbon fuel production, processing and export as well as offer a powerful impetus to implement the large-scale social and economic programmes initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to enhance Turkmenistan’s economic strength and improve the people’s welfare.
