V Global Gas Flaring Reduction Conference took place at the scientific and research institute of the Oil and Gas complex of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat. The conference was held under the aegis of the World Bank.
Numerous foreign delegates from Russia, the UK, Canada, Norway, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, as well as representatives of a number of leading scientific and research institutions, the World Bank, and foreign companies working in the oil and gas sphere in our country participated in the conference.
The Global Gas Flaring Reduction (GGFR) public-private partnership launched by the World Bank in 2002 facilitates the collaboration between oil producing nations, state-owned oil companies, and major oil companies. This World Bank-led initiative fosters balanced and pragmatic approaches to help reducing gas flaring to levels as low as technically and economically possible. At present, 30 government organisations, agencies of international and national oil companies are members of the GGFR.
Within the framework of the conference, representatives of foreign delegations has meetings with heads of the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan. Moreover, during a session of the GGFR Regional Coordination Committee for Europe and Central Asia, a new Chairman was elected.
In framework of the cultural programme, our guests saw the sights of the Turkmen capital.
