Raw material of unique gulf

view-icon 1830
Garabogazkol Gulf is one of unique reservoirs in the world, which natural resources have no analogs. It keeps practically all chemical elements of periodic table essential for the development of many kinds of industry.

It is huge “laboratory” under open air. Evaporation in the gulf is very high, long-continued. Therefore, on its bottom, it is observed the constant accretion of salts of two types – liquid – in the form of brine and solid – crystalline. They are the basis for production of many kinds of chemical products, particularly sodium sulfate and bishofit. In the last year, for example, the production of sodium sulfate came to 1200 tons, and bishofit – 1435 tons.

“Garabogazsulfat” PA of “Turkmenchemistry” State Concern is one of the oldest industrial enterprises of the national industry. Its products - sodium sulfate and bishofit are used in production of paper, glass, in oil refining, in power engineering, construction, metallurgy, pharmaceutical, light and chemical industry. This product is in great demand in the world market, has strategic significance for expansion of export possibilities of the country.

Production technology of such valuable raw material is quite simple and bears a seasonal character. The nature itself and alternative energy – sun play key role here. At the end of autumn, the water from gulf is drained to the artificial lake specially intended for these purposes. The accretion of salts and other compounds takes place in winter on its bottom. In summer, they turn practically into raw material for production of sodium sulfate and bishofit.

On the bank of the gulf, it was envisaged the creation of relevant infrastructure of the chemical industry for increase of production volumes and expansion of assortments. In summer of the last year, it was laid a foundation of new complex – the carbamide plant with full capacity of 1 million 155 thousand tons of products per year.

Construction of the plant is realized jointly with the Turkish Company “Gap Insaat” and Japanese “Mitsubishi” Corporation, which implemented several projects of industrial significance in the capital and different regions of the country.
