Two installations with production output of 600 kilogrammes of the thread per day from domestic raw material have already produced 10 tons of construction mats. “Dovletgurlushyk” and “Ayit” companies placed three installations at the territory of the paper mill in Yashlyk for production of mineral wool from the rocks, discovered at Ufra field in Balkan velayat. The enterprises, established by the entrepreneurs, would produce up to two tons of heat-insulating materials per day from the rocks. These are 1 X 10 meters mats.

Unique technology, developed by the specialists of leading Russian enterprises OJSC Teploproect and SPA Stekloplastic as well as experienced engineers and scientists of Bazalt-Invest LLC (Perm city), provides that volcanic rocks, melted in gas furnaces at the temperature of 1300 – 1400 C° and with the use of spunbond device and rotating drum, are turned into superfine wool, which is used for manufacturing of heat-insulating materials such as mats, plates, etc.

General Director of Basalt Factory, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Professor Arkadiy Avanesov highlighted that high quality of Turkmen raw materials – basalt porphyrite from Ufra field, allowed producing the thread suitable for production of basalt continuous fibre and start manufacturing composite materials such as window bindings, road mesh, reinforcement, etc. what was proven by factory tests in April of 2014.

Combined approach to melting process and extraction of fibres from certain type of basalt material and technical process parameters were developed during the tests what provided high production capacity.

These are the developments, which were laid in the foundation of new production of mineral wool in Yashlyk settlement. Installations for production of basalt fibre from Turkmen raw materials were built at Krasnokamsk Experimental Mechanical Plant by the drawings of the specialists from Perm city. The Turkmen entrepreneurs built production facility at the territory of the paper mill, equipped it with ventilation devices, high and low pressure pumps and other auxiliary equipment purchased in Germany, Iran, China, Turkey.

Today, experimental production of mineral wool from Ufra porphyrites is carried out based on new technologies. After, it is intended to get materials with new unique properties by adding of other solid mineral materials into the melt.

Construction of another production facility for making of composite materials from basalt minerals near the resource base is the next stage. Documentation for production of window frames, reinforcements, long-lasting pipes from basalt is prepared. Manufacturing of sandwich panels with application of bentonites, basalt fibre and adhesives, which would have number of advantages such as weight, moisture resistance, long lasting of exploitation, is to be mastered.

It is possible to produce reinforcements, channels and beams, which would replace the metal ones. The mesh made of such material increase by several times the strength of asphalt surfacing in road construction. This fibre is able to replace the glass tissue for manufacturing of pipes at Ruhabat Pipe Factory.

Mineral fibres are practically everlasting, they are not rusted, not rotted, not oxidized; they are environmentally friendly without harmful additives, resistant to acid and basis, have wide temperature range and withstand the heating up to 1000 C°.

Initial elaborations for production of basalt fibre, taking into account existing prices for oil, gas and energy in the country, indicate that production cost of superfine basalt fibres might be significantly lower than the world prices. Realization of this project would allow Turkmenistan stopping import of foreign materials.

Fibre materials can find wide application in oil and gas sphere, insulation of oil pipelines, production of piping materials, laying of roads. The demand of the country in heat-insulating materials is hundreds of thousands square meters per year. At the same time, material base for production of items from basalt is very extensive and accessible. The use of domestic materials will allow providing considerably the construction industry, energy sphere and needs of other branches with heat-insulating and composite stuff.
