Construction works at the polyethylene and polypropylene production gas chemical complex under construction in the Kiyanly settlement are completed up to 90 percent. The enterprise is planned to be put into operation by the end of 2018.

Over 1,300 workers, engineers and technicians, dozens of foreign and local construction companies with highly-qualified specialists from Korea, Japan, Turkey, Germany, India, the Philippines as well as more than 100 experts of the Turkmengas State Concern are involved in the implementation of the project. Over 1,280 units of construction equipment are used at different sections of the large-scale construction site.

A worker’s settlement designed for comfortable accommodation of 5,000 persons was built nearby the construction site.

The project on the polyethylene and polypropylene production gas chemical complex is implemented by Turkmen gasworks engineers jointly with the consortium of companies TOYO Engineering (Japan), LG International Corporation and Hyundai Engineering Corp. Ltd (the Republic of Korea). It is designed to process five billion cubic metres of natural gas for further production of 386,000 tons of polyethylene and 81,000 tons of polypropylene per year. The technologies of the world leading companies, including TOYO (Japan), INEOS (UK), LUMMUS (USA), GRACE (USA) are involved in the implementation of this project.

We are talking about the unique project of the complex processing of hydrocarbon gases into various high value-added HVA products. As compared to the existing industries, the new plant will gradually process olefins, separate them into fractions, thermally crack them and polymerize from natural gas, which is extremely rare in the world. The future enterprise for the production of polypropylene and polyethylene with ethane cracker was awarded with a TXF special prize (UK) as one of the ten top projects in Europe and Eurasia in 2014, which are funded by export credit agencies.

For the organization and operation of the high-tech process, the project provides integrated support systems: installation of seawater desalination, steam, nitrogen, instrument air and electricity generation unit. It also provides the domestic water, industrial water and sewage water treatment unit. In the first three months of 2017, it is planned to launch start-up works at the main process lines of the gas chemical complex.

This project will provide the domestic market with the high-quality products, the significant volumes of which will be also exported.
