On April 20-21, 2026, a delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan O.Kakalyev, took part in the international forum “Countering transnational drug threats to public health and security” organized in Samarkand by the Agency for Drug Control and Firearms under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The forum discussed current global and regional trends in illicit drug trafficking, preventive measures among young people, the development of treatment, rehabilitation and social reintegration systems, the introduction of digital technologies and artificial intelligence-based solutions in the fight against drug threats.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening international cooperation in this area.
