On May 12, 2026, a meeting was held between O. Berdiyeva, Chairperson of the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan, and S. Mamedov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the activities of the trade unions of the two countries, discussed issues concerning the protection of labor rights and social protection of trade union members, and expressed interest in further strengthening ties between the trade unions of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan and the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation.

On May 13, 2026, a conference titled “Trade Union Activities on Climate Change Issues” was held as part of the visit.

The event was attended by representatives of the two trade union organizations, government agencies of Azerbaijan, international organizations, as well as experts in the field of ecology and social policy.

Within the framework of the program, the participants reviewed the involvement of trade unions in shaping climate policy, ensuring a just transition to a sustainable economy, protecting workers' labor rights, and developing social dialogue. Special attention was paid to the creation of “green” jobs, retraining of personnel, and strengthening social protection in the context of climate change.
