President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during negotiations with President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, who paid an official visit to Ashgabat, proposed developing bilateral partnerships in energy and transport.
Determining the key areas of Turkmen-Kyrgyz cooperation, the leader of the nation noted that energy is his most important area.
“In particular, we are talking about the supply of Turkmen natural gas and electricity to Kyrgyzstan,” said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, expressing his readiness to substantively discuss technical, organizational and other parameters of supplies. At the same time, it was noted that, if necessary, in agreement with the transit country, it would be advisable to organize a trilateral expert meeting.
Also, the transport sector was named among the priorities of cooperation.
“I believe that the efforts of our countries can and should be aimed at achieving the main goal - the creation of a powerful and modern infrastructure that would ensure the unification of the transport systems of Asia, Europe and the Middle East,” stressed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
He noted that Ashgabat is ready to work together to create a transport corridor designed to connect Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan with access to the Caspian Sea.
“I believe that the states of our region, which do not have direct access to the World Ocean, need to maximize the potential of the port infrastructure of the eastern Caspian to export their products to the markets of Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, the Near and Middle East. Turkmenistan is ready to discuss the use of the capacities of the new International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi in the interests of Kyrgyzstan on favorable terms,” said the Turkmen leader.
