The first meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on issues of water resources management took part in Tashkent. The parties discussed the issues on cooperation in the field of Amudarya river water management, and water economic facilities operation within the territories of two countries. In this regard, it was emphasized an importance of the activity of the International Fund for Saving of Aral Sea, Interstate Coordination Water Management Commission and Interstate Commission on Sustainable Development.
During the negotiations the issues of the scientific-technical cooperation in the water management sphere were also discussed. In this context, the meeting participants expressed their readiness to carry out the development and realization of the project and programs of the bilateral cooperation on the sustainable use of water resources, implementation of new technologies and etc.
Upon the outcomes of the meeting, the parties signed the Protocol of the first meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on issues of water resources management.
